The first batch of letters.

This is the first batch of letters 'delivered' one Sunday morning to locations around the city. It was a little awkward at times, standing around in retail spaces, pubs, public transport hubs, the Kings Cross Library and an art gallery waiting for an opportunity to drop each letter. Of course most would be thrown away but you never know. One or two might be picked up and read. What I have learnt from this is carry a book to conceal the letters and more importantly, be decisive (just drop each letter and move on). The funny thing about what I'm doing is that you are basically acting exactly like a shoplifter, standing around, pretending to be casually engaged with shopping when really you have another agenda. You are 'acting' in a normal way but fully aware of your surrounding environment and the people in it. People such as security guards and shop assistants. I dropped several letters off at the Japanese bookstore. Left a few under menus at different pubs. (I also dropped a few of the 'Trevor' letters off in the pokie areas because that seemed appropriate for the character).
Magazine racks in news agents. Behind gossip mags and the Rolling Stone. Restaurants. At the 'Head On' photo exhibit at town hall. As far as some of these drop off points went, I didn't even mind if they were found a week or two later. The whole idea being to weave epistolary fiction into everyday life.
